Actor John Abraham buys himself a Royal Enfield based board track racer, but why?
John Abraham on a Royal Enfield based Custom Board Track Racer
Board track racers are meant for flats where they can be unleashed to have a go at the land speed record, or are they used for something else? Please let us know if you know of board track racers doing something else apart from trying to cover a piece of terra firma in the fastest possibly time. Bollywood actor John Abraham claims to love motorcycles and hence he even has a couple of SBKs in his garage as proof. The actor now has gotten a custom motorcycle builder from Rajasthan to build him a board track racer.
Rajputana Customs who usually customize Royal Enfield motorcycles into creations that the motorcycle owners specify has built board track racer for John Abraham using the 500cc unit construction engine that comes in the Royal Enfield Classic 500. While the motorcycle itself looks nicely done we’re yet to fathom why John Abraham would want one of these. Is he planning to have a shot at one of the Speed Runs or is it yet another poser that he plans to park at his home. We’ll leave this for your imagination.

I’ve read this article and it seems to me the person who is talking about motorcycles couldn’t possibly know anything about their history. If you had known anything about Boardtrack racers you would know that there hasn’t been any raced in a good many years due to the number of deaths in the late ’20.
What we have had in the past while is a boardtrack revival, where the style has been infused into a show or daily driver bike. This is really what motorcycles are really about. We all take a base of frame, tank, two wheels and an engine and then we build something pulling from the influences of the past and part of our own unique vision. This bike simply uses an idea from the past with the stretched frame, turned down bars, girder front end, sunken leaf-spring seat and so on.
As to why the actor would want one and insulting him for keeping the bike well protected and in immaculate condition, well that’s his business and by attempting to make it more just makes you look petty.
And by the way, Boardies are not meant to be turned loose on a flat track. They were raced on banked oval tracks made from laminated 2×4′s. Hence the name “BOARDTRACK RACERS”. I hope there is a real journalist working for this site at some point. It’s about checking facts and putting out useful information. I could give you a lesson or two if you would like. All you have to do is ask.
the person who wrote the article seems to be more interested in pointing fingers at people rather than putting forward the right facts
