KTM Duke 200 top speed rated at a claimed 134 Kph; 0-60 in 3.33 Seconds!
Two days ago, we brought you juicy bits about the KTM Duke 200 and today we have with a few aspects of the Duke 200, which further corroborates our previous story about the KTM Duke 200. The KTM Duke 200 has a claimed top speed of 134 Kph, which confirms the very short gearing on this motorcycle. Predictably so, the acceleration will be quite fantastic. The claimed nought to sixty number on the KTM Duke 200 is a very brisk 3.33 seconds.
That number means that the Duke 200 actually faster than the Honda CBR250R to 60 kph and might very well be faster to the 100 kph mark too. This super quick acceleration despite the Duke 200 featuring the 6 speed gearbox hints at only one thing, short gear ratios. This allied to the very light kerb weight of 137 Kilograms means that the Duke 200 will be a hooligan bike, much in the mould of the original but short lived streetfighter, the Pulsar 200 DTSi.
From these specifications, it is also evident that Bajaj is positioning the KTM Duke 200 in such a way so as to keep space for the new flagship Pulsar that could continue to be the top of the line motorcycle in the Bajaj range. The KTM Duke 200′ features a 200cc liquid cooed, DOHC engine that produces over 25 Bhp at 10,000 rpm. The torque number of 19.5 Nm also comes at a high 8,000 rpm, hinting at a highly strung motor running on a high compression ratio of 11.5:1.
The KTM Duke 200 will be officially unveiled later this year in December, and will go on sale from January 2012, the same time from when deliveries of the motorcycle will begin. The KTM Duke 200 features a high level of localization of its parts, right from the suspension to the switchgear. This will result in a very attractive price tag of INR 1.25-1.31 Lakhs, making the Duke a brilliant value for money buy.

How exactly is it calculated to be 3.33 sec? Wouldn’t it depend a lot on the rider??
Dear Gyan,
For test numbers, manufacturers usually use a 65 kilo test rider!
Cheers,
