Spy Shots: New Yamaha R15 in the Pipeline?

Yamaha R15 Spy Shot

Yamaha R15 Spy Shot

It’s been more than a couple of years since the Yamaha R15 gave Indians a dose of how a supersport machine should behave by setting the benchmark in the handling stakes. This is the flaship bike that changed Yamaha’s image in India and paved way for the cheaper Yamaha FZ16s stupendous success. Ever since the Yamaha R15′s launch, Yamaha India has gone forward with the R15 championships which has provided for the betterment of Indian motorcycle racing in a big way. Now, the Yamaha R15, while still being the class leader in the handling stakes is slowly getting dated as newer motorcycles offering both power, handling and style are all set to be launched.

Perhaps this will be just the right time for Yamaha India to launch a revamped version of the very successful Yamaha R15. One of our readers, Vaibhav Saigal, has sent in these spy pictures of the Yamaha R15 testing somewhere in India. While we can’t make out much from the pictures, the tail lamp design and the alloy wheel design seems to have changed and so is the inclusion of a different rear wheel tire hugger. Apart from these changes, the exhaust end can also seems to be different based on what we could decipher from the spyshots. Also, the rear seat seems to be set a little higher than usual with grab rails now on the sides rather than on the rear. The giveaway bit is the fairing which clearly shows the right side crankcase to be that of the Yamaha R15. The wait begins.

  3. anvee on December 10th, 2010 9:35 pm

    thats the R125 dear :)

    look closely dear..

    wondering why u r even bloggers….

  4. Jay Prashanth on December 10th, 2010 9:58 pm

    Anvee,

Could you please tell us how you concluded that it is the R125?

If you have ever happened to see an R125, you might have noticed that the R125′s fairing covers the right crank case partially and this isn’t the case with the motorcycle captured in the spy pics. Also, the front disc brake of the R125 is situated on the left hand side of the wheel rather than the right. Finally, the exhaust of the R125 is a stubby design which is definitely different from what exists on the spy pics. Hope this clears it for you.

It would serve you best if you work harder to better Motorbeam’s daily traffic rather than indulging in mindless criticism of ICB bloggers. :-)

    Cheers,

    Jay

  6. Anvi on December 12th, 2010 6:24 pm

There was no criticism there ICB.

Sorry if it hurt. And an explanation would have been enough and you neednt have commented on Motorbeam’s daily traffic.

Your website’s quality of news sucks anyways.

    @ Anvi:

    Thanks for stopping by

Firstly, Could I ask you the reason to write this line -> “why u r even bloggers….”

What wrong have we done here that prompted you to write this line. Whether this bike is R15 or R125, that is a separate issue & can be debated.

Now you are again coming back and being illogical. I will not say anything about our “quality”. That you are here commenting on our posts speaks something about us. We let our work do the talking.

Let’s get to the real thing here and as Jay asked:

Could you please tell us how you concluded that it is the R125 ?:-)

This will be a better way to take things in the right direction !

    @anvi
    st*pid boy stop blogging nonsense

  17. Satish on December 14th, 2010 5:57 pm

This is definitely a 250 cc bike (Can’t imagine such big tires on a 150cc, that would really hurt the performance), i guess Yamaha is getting all set to compete against Honda CBR250 and the Kwacker 250.

Hope they give some exchange offer to exchange with R15, I would be the first one in the queue… :-)

  18. Jay Prashanth on December 14th, 2010 7:07 pm

    Satish,

    What you’re saying makes sense.

    Cheers,

    Jay

  19. Vaibhav saigal on December 15th, 2010 10:32 pm

  36. RISHABH MAGOTRA on August 10th, 2011 3:25 pm

FIRST OF ALL, 4 ALL THOZE GUYS HU THINK ITS AN R125 !, U GUYS REALY NEED 2 UPGRADE UR LEVEL N GET BACK WITH SOME INFORMATION. MY FRIEND HAS IMPORTED R125 FROM EUROPE N THATS TOTAL DIFFERENT FROM THIS 1 SHOWN IN PICS. THERE’S A HELL LOT OF DIFFERENCE BET. THIS AND R125, WHICH CAN B EASILY CAUGHT BY AN ADVANCED BIKER. SILENCER, FRONT DISK, FRONT ELEVATION, REAR TAIL, MUDFLAP, TANK, ALL R COMPLETLY DIFFERENT !

EVEN IT IS 60-70% SAME AS THE PREVIOUS R15 ! 8-)

WAITING DESPERATLY FOR ITS LAUNCH. PLEASE TELL WHEN ITS GONA REALY LAUNCH N WHAT WILL B ITS PRICE ????????????????

  37. Shashank on September 4th, 2011 8:42 pm

Just when I was about to buy an R15!! It’s not fair yaar. The R15 did look diminutive. Don’t particularly like the tyre hugging mudguard. Yuk! shud move over to the CBR 250 or wait for the Ninja to drop its price.

  38. rajen on October 2nd, 2011 8:44 am

when will R15 version2 lunch in nepal.
