Power Commander Aftermarket ECU under development for 2011 Honda CBR250R!
Here’s one of the massive advantage of being able to buy an International motorcycle right here in India. The 2011 Honda CBR250R as you must be aware by now is a motorcycle that Honda plans to sell worldwide as a competitor to the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. This means that huge volumes for the 2011 Honda CBr250R are likely.
Along with volumes come the scores of motorcycle enthusiasts who’d want to make their CBR250Rs faster than that of their neighbors. For folks like them, we have a bunch of aftermarket performance parts suppliers working on performance upgrades for the 2011 Honda CBR250R.
Power Commander, a renowned name in aftermarket performance motorcycle ECUs is one of the first big motorcycle performance part makers who is developing an aftermarket ECU for the 2011 Honda CBR250R. Estimated to cost about $370 or around INR 16,000, this ECU will liberate more horse power and torque while also adjusting the air fuel mixture appropriately for other performance modifications like an after market free flow exhaust and high lift camshafts and the works.
The cost of course appears to be pretty high and factoring in the import duties payable, it will become exorbitant for Indian customers. So we expect top Indian motorcycle tuners like Joel Joe of RaceConcepts to come up with cheaper track tuned variants that do not sacrifice performance while retaining the price advantage.
While no time frame has been mentioned as to when the Power Commander performance ECU would be ready, word in Malaysian and Thai motorcycle forums suggest that the ECU should be ready in under the next 3 months. With that, prospective Indian Honda CBR250R owners will have plenty of options to choose from in case they plan on making their CBRs take the high performance tuned route. Meanwhile, 2011 Honda CBR250R customer deliveries will begin later this month.
