Royal Enfield Classic Chrome 500 to be launched soon: Official Word Out!

Royal Enfield, the Indian lifestyle motorcycle maker, through its official Facebook page has confirmed that the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome 500 will be launched in India soon. That said, the exact dates when this motorcycle will be launched is something that isn’t known at the moment. By the looks of it though, this seems to be the next model Royal Enfield will launch for the Indian market.

More of a stylistic exercise, the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome was first unveiled at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo, following which it was launched in the American and European markets. Many prospective buyers have been eagerly asking about this motorcycle’s Indian launch, and finally Royal Enfield seems all set to give Indian Royal Enfield the option of buying this classy motorcycle.

Mechanically, the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome 500 is not dissimilar to the Classic 500 EFI as it shares the same 500cc, air cooled, pushrod based unit construction engine that produces a peak power of 27.2 Bhp at 5,250 rpm and peak torque of 41.3 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The fuel injected engine will be mated to a five speed transmission, although a non fuel injected 500cc motorcycle from Royal Enfield would be a good idea considering the fact that the Indian Bullets don’t come with the critical O2 sensor as a cost cutting measure.

While the export versions of the Classic Chrome 500 comes with 18 inch wheels, the Indian model could come with a 19 inch wheel up front for better high speed stability. Moving on to the cosmetic changes, the Classic Chrome gets dollops of chrome all around. The front mudguard, the fuel tank, the air box and the rear mudguard get chrome plated to give the Classic Chrome terrific street presence.

When the Royal Enfield Classic UCE350/500 was launched in India, many Bulleteers complained of how puny the motorcycle looked when compared to the likes of the 19 inch wheeled models like the Electra and the Machismo. So, the addition of chrome will perhaps put back the imposing presence that Bullets are always known for. Watch this space.

Classic 500 cc Royal Enfield is a failure.
I purchased & got delivery on 14 July,2011 & on the day 2 battery was down and I could not start the vehicle with kicks forget about the self start. Told by the dealer the vehicle was delivered but battery was full charged. Battery was changed on day 2 now after 15 days again I face the same problem again. I can’t start the vehicle battery down even after riding for few kms every day. Contacted the dealers workshop atleast 10 times, called the companies Chenai head office & was promised that the concerned manager will contact immediately but no one contacted where as the vehicle is parked un usable. What a shame Royal Enfield…!!! Is this not a Cheating…???? Why one has to go through all these hassles…?
If not sorted out in 24 hours time maximum. All necessary legal actions will be filed.
