Royal Enfield, the iconic bike maker has launched two new bike models- Classic Chrome and Desert Storm. The Classic Chrome is a tweaked version of the 2009 Royal Enfield Classic and is priced at Rs 1,64,400. The other leisure bike that the bike maker launched today at an event in Mumbai is the Desert Storm which is priced at 1,58,200. Both the bikes are equipped with a 500 cc twin-spark motor.
“Our customers have been demanding the Chrome model of Royal Enfield for quite some time now. Both Classic Chrome andĀ Desert StormĀ are meant to bring more thrills to the customer,” the firm’s senior vice president (sales and marketing) Shaji Koshy said.
The Classic Chrome gets a fuel tank finished in chrome, wider mudguards and an oval tool box. That said, the 500 cc twin-spark engine puts out 27.2 bhp of maximum power and 41.3 Nm of torque. The Chrome also sports a leather finished seat which adds to the retro British bike feel.

The Desert Storm is finished in “sand” paint scheme and is sort of a tribute to our soldiers who have protected the honor of our nation, serving for the country in the harshest of environments. The major difference between the two bikes is the unique paint job each one of them sports.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch of the two leisure bikes, Koshy said that the company has added 15 new dealerships and a brand store in the past few months. Royal Enfield is also committed towards giving their customers the best experience possible, added Koshy.
“Following the launch of Classic 350 and 500cc in September 2009, we have been continuously equipping our dealerships to take customer satisfaction to the next level. In 2011, we have added 15 dealerships and one brand store to our existing network,” Koshy said.

Enfield off late have been releasing new models but many of them are just cosmetic. Expecting a bike like HD – Fat boy or even like Honda – Gold wing for the Indian market at an affordable price, I think there’re enough buyers here
