Suzuki Gladius: 650 CC Superbike Launch for India in 2010?

The number of super bikes on Indian roads is going to increase in the coming times with the entry of newer models in this “High Class” segment.

The latest entrant which might join this bandwagon is the Suzuki Gladius Motorcycle. Suzuki could introduce this Superbike in India with a price tag somewhere between Rs 7 – Rs 8 lakh.

Suzuki Gladius is a 645cc, 2-cylinder street bike powered by a solid V-twin engine and has a great sporty look.

Currently a number of superbike manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati and Kawasaki are available in the Indian Automobile Arena. The “Premium Bikes” offered by these manufacturers are priced in the range of above Rs.10 Lakh.

Suzuki Gladius sells at at $6,899 in United States of America. So, if the bike is launched around Rs. 7 Lakhs in India, this will make it the cheapest superbike in India for the 500cc – 750cc segment.

Just in the recent past, Harley Davidson announced its plans to enter the Superbike Market in India and is currently looking for its new dealerships across India. Harley Davidson is expected to launch its Indian Bike range on January 5, 2010 This range could include Touring, Dyna, Sportster, Softail and VRSC Models.

Ducati India has also opened its 2nd dealership for the Indian Market last week.

As per an industry insider, “Suzuki is adding three more models to its super bike segment and one of them will be the Gladius.”

Harley Davidson, which will officially launch its range for the Indian market on January 5, is tying up with banks for easier financing options for its potential customers.
