The Ninja goes naked as Kawasaki Indonesia launches the Z250 Streetfighter motorcycle
Japanese motorcycle giant Kawasaki has just launched a street fighter version of the 2013 Ninja 250 sportsbike in Indonesia. The new Kawasaki sportsbike goes by the name Z250, following in the footsteps of the bigger Z800 street fighter in Kawasaki’s global range. Talking of the Z800, the Z250′s styling is very similar to the bigger engined Kawker. The 2013 Kawasaki Z250 features a twin cylinder 250cc engine, the same unit that’s found on the 2013 Ninja 250R. The parallel twin-four stroke engine is liquid cooled and runs an 8 valve-DOHC layout.
The engine is fuel injected while transmission is by means of a 6 speed manual gearbox. While power and torque outputs are yet to be revealed, the same engine on the Ninja 250R pumps out a peak power of 33 Bhp while peak torque is rated at 22 Nm. So, expect similar figure with the torque output bumped up, in keeping with the street fighter character of the Z250. The 250cc engine is the completely revamped unit, the same one found on the Ninja 250R and comes with dual-throttle valve, new pistons, new cylinders and new crank cases.
Along with the engine, the 2013 Kawasaki Z250 shares plenty of parts with the Ninja 250R. The frame, instrumentation console, telescopic front forks and the monoshock rear are the other prominent parts of the Z250 which appear to be shared with the Ninja 250R. In a nutshell, the Kawasaki Z250 is an unfaired and sharply styled version of the Ninja 250R. The motorcycle is available in three colors: White, Black and Red. Like the Ninja 250R, the Z250 is built in Thailand. So, expect this motorcycle to be launched in Thailand as well.
An Indian launch for the 2013 Kawasaki Z250 is something that remains uncertain at this point in time. However, with the KTM Duke 390 just around the corner, Kawasaki might want to sell the Z250 in India, as a premium alternative for folks who’d prefer a twin cylinder engine to the single cylinder motor of the Duke 390. In Indonesia, the Kawasaki Z250 is priced at 48.5 Million Indonesian Rupiah, which translates to about INR 2.64 lakhs. The price looks pretty tempting though.
