A while ago, we brought you buzz about TVS Motors mulling a 200cc version of it’s flagship motorcycle model Apache.

TVS Motors surprised all of us by being mum about the 200cc model during the 2010 Indian Auto Expo. Now, once again the Indian auto-blogosphere is abuzz with the news than a 220cc Apache is on the anvil, and this launch could happen as soon as April, 2010.

The TVS Apache RTR 220 is speculated to come with a 22 bhp engine. If this really materializes, we could have an all new “fastest” Indian dethroning the Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-i. TVS might also give the Apache RTR220 a brand new look with a half fairing being the most probable add on.

Other ammo could include ABS technology which will make the Apache RTR220 the first Indian motorcycle to feature an ABS option. What amuses us at ICB is the fact that a few blokes at other auto blogs are speculating wild top speed figures of 150 Kmph for the Apache RTR220. Now, a 220 machine pulling off such top speeds wouldn’t be without extra tall gearing which will make it a slouch at the traffic light GPs. That isn’t really how TVS operates, isn’t it?

Knowing TVS and their dedicated racing effort, we expect the top speed to be in the whereabouts of a genuine 135 Kmph with punchy acceleration to match. Stick around for more buzz on the Apache RTR220.
