Clap-Clap: The wait for your Honda motorcycle/scooter could get shorter
Honda Twister
My first experience of a true blue Honda was way back in 2006, when we hurriedly, with no planning whatsoever, took off to Goa on my best friend’s Honda Unicorn. On the 700 km ride to Goa, I discovered why exactly people wait for months, after booking their favorite Honda motorcycles and scooters. While some, who know what the Honda quality is all about and are prepared to endure the obscene wait periods for Honda scooters and motorcycles, there are others who simply don’t bother doing so. They simply head out to the nearest Bajaj Pulsar showroom and buy a Pulsar instead, which was and is as easily available as a mobile phone or an MP3 player for that matter.
But, Honda motorcycles and scooters have remained products for which long waiting periods were the norm. Needless to say, more people preferred riding than waiting and the sales figures were clear reflections, except perhaps for the Honda Activa, which has continued to sell despite painful waiting periods of four months. All this might change in the near future as Honda Scooters and Motors Limited have, thankfully, has started constructing a brand new production facility at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. This plant will be able to churn out 6,00,000 motorcycles and scooters per year and is expected to employ over 3,000 workers. So, mid 2011 it is, when a Honda motorcycle or scooter of your choice could be available with a much shortened waiting period or no waiting period at all.
