New Yamaha R15 2.0 bookings open albeit “unofficially”

September 6th, 2011 is when Yamaha Motor India will launch the Yamaha R15 2.0 version for the Indian motorcycle market. In the meanwhile, many Yamaha dealers across India have “unofficially” began accepting bookings for the new R15. Prospective Yamaha R15 2.0 version buyers who might want to jump the crowd are already knocking on Yamaha dealers’ doors and a few Yamaha dealers too are accepting new R15 bookings for as little as INR 1,000.

On the other hand, many Yamaha dealers remain in the dark about the R15 2.0′s bookings as Yamaha India hasn’t yet officially announced bookings for their flagship motorcycle’s second coming. However, prospective R15 2.0 buyers, in a bid to jump the crowd will obviously want to put their money down for a booking, even if it is an unofficial one. Meanwhile, the new Yamaha R15 is said to have changes in the swingarm and the chassis to accommodate the fatter rear tyre.

This apart, the fairing sees a change except for the front of the motorcycle, which still retains the twin headlamp of the original motorcycle. The raised rear end of the motorcycle along with the split seat means that the new Yamaha R15 will get transformed into a much sharper looking motorcycle. Tweaks to the ECU and sprocketing are the other unconfirmed changes doing the rounds. Therefore, waiting for the official launch would be more apt, at least for these two crucial changes.

The Yamaha R15 has always been a terrific package when it comes to leading the segment in terms of handling and the new Yamaha R15 2.0 has already high bar to raise. Cosmetically, Yamaha India seems to have gotten the mix just right for the upgraded version of the Yamaha R15. Now, if the already sporty handling and power delivery is further refined, the Yamaha R15 2.0 will be the benchmark in the Indian motorcycle market. Let’s hope that Yamaha India price the Yamaha R15 2.0 very competitively.

    Hi Prasanth,
Even in Chennai I called all the dealers to confirm about this hype. Only some said that they have started pre booking for the R15 v2.0. I am waiting for next two weeks. Lets see what is behind cloth ?
