The Yamaha R15 is one motorcycle that has been spotted time and again by a certain Mr Vaibhav Saigal, who seems to have an uncanny knack of snapping up Yamaha R15s on road tests in the NCR(National Capital Region) belt. This time around, the R15 spotted is a red color variant. So far, we’ve managed to get images of the Yamaha R15, straight from the factory floor and this latest image of the Yamaha R15 only adds to the number.

From the images, the new Yamaha R15 seems to have plenty of visual differences from the current version of the motorcycle. Firstly, the wider rear wheel and the new alloy rim design of the new R15 are the mos prominent changes. The side fairing also sees a change and so does the rear cowl of the new Yamaha R15, which makes for a more aggressive forward leaning stance. This apart, the R15′s engine crankcase also sees a new black powder coated color scheme.

Currently, two speculative versions of the new Yamaha R15′s specifications are doing the rounds on the interweb. One of course is that the new Yamaha R15 will retain the 150cc liquid cooled, DOHC 4 valve engine, albeit with a slightly higher power and torque rating to compensate for the wider rear tyre. The other version of course is that the Yamaha R15′s engine capacity has been raised to about 170cc for a peak power rating of around 20 Bhp.

This line of speculative thought also seem plausible considering the fact that aftermarket performance boost kits for the R15, feature a 165cc big bore piston, a high lift camshaft, a remapped ECU and a free flow exhaust, produces more than 20 Bhp. All said, Yamaha India continues to remain mum about the new Yamaha R15 and until Yamaha comes with an official announcement, all this speculation remains, well, speculation!
