Yamaha SZ150 Commuter Motorcycle

The 150cc class gets another commuter that will build on the success of Yamaha’s FZ16, but this time will appeal to office goers who want to shoot past that diesel fume belching bus faster than they could do with their Splendors and Boxers. The Yamaha SZ150 was definitely on the cards for sometime now with Yamaha Motor India themselves confirming that they would be launching the SZ150 in the later half of 2010 at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo.

Now, it looks like the launch date is nearing as our friends from Motoroids have managed to spot a Yamaha SZ150 doing rounds somewhere in and around Pune.

The Yamaha SZ150 which shares the engine from the FZ16 might be detuned to make sure that it tops the fuel efficiency charts, and it is this department that Yamaha India has so far struggled. So, with the detuned FZ16′s 153cc four stroke single, the SZ150 might be able to deliver somewhere around 50-55 kmpl in the real world, a figure which will entice Honda Unicorn buyers looking for a dash of style and novelty from the now dated Unicorn. Along with the fuel efficiency, the sobering down of the styling could result in plenty of savings resulting in a lower purchase price.

So, a realistic on road figure of INR 60,000 could just seal the deal for the Yamaha SZ150 and bring plenty of customers who hitherto had stayed away from the Yamaha fold due to high price of the Yamaha FZ16, which at close to INR 75,000 on road was seen as out of reach for the average commuter motorcycle buyer, who instead preferred to settle with the Unicorn. For now, if you’re in the market for a 150cc commuter, you might as well wait for a month or so as the Yamaha SZ150 is expected to be launched anytime now. it appears as if libero strikes back !!!!!!!!!!i am waiting to grab it as right now i m stuck up with my libero only,and no bike in 150 class is a complete package of power and style
