2010 British GP Qualifying: Redbulls rule at Silverstone
Vettel, Webber and Alonso after Q3
The Redbulls of Sebastien Vettel and Mark Webber will start from the front row of the grid for tomorrows 2010 Santander British GP. It was a kind of deja vu moment for the Redbull guys as they continued with their impressive performance. Right from the start of the qualifying session, the Redbulls looked menacing. The sheer amount of downforce and the consequent grip levels meant, they could break the 1min 30sec barrier. Sebastien Vettel posted a time of 1m 29.615s compared to Webber’s 1m 29.758s.

The best of the Ferrari’s of Fernando Alonso was the only driver who could manage to come close to the times set by the Redbulls. He set a time of 1m 30.426s. Both McLarens had a disastrous start to their qualifying session with Button failing to qualify for Q2. Hamilton on the other hand wrestled with his car and surprisingly managed to post a descent 4th fastest time. Nico Rosberg was 5th with a time of 1m 30.625s. Robert Kubica and Felipe Massa posted 6th and 7th fastest times respectively. Rubens Barichello will start his 297th grand prix from 8th position on the grid. Pedro de la Rosa (1m 31.274s) and Michael Schumacher (1m 31.430s) complete the top 10.

Having started his Q1 stint a bit late, Adrian Sutil stormed in to 4th initially. But dropped to 10 by Q2 and was finally knocked out of Q3. Liuzzi was also not able to impress and was once again out-performed by his teammate. Vitali Petrov looked strong in Q1 but an electronic problem at the start of Q2 meant he will start tomorrows race from 16th on the grid. Lotus Racing, Virgin Racing and HRT complete the tail end of the field.
