2010 MotoGP at Sachsenring: Qualifying
Lorenzo on pole for sundays 2010 Sachsenring GP
Saturday’s qualifying session started with rain clouds looming just over the horizon. However, it wasn’t the rain that stopped the race. It was an oil-spill from Lorenzo’s M1 that forced the marshals to stop the session. By then, Lorenzo had set a fastest time of 1’21.817. Ben Spies and Randy de Puniet were the victims of the oil-spill which brought out the red flag. The session was terminated with 25 minutes remaining.

Casey Stoner starts from 2nd on the grid
Lorenzo managed to pull off the track with his M1 which had began pouring flames. Spies and de Puniet crashed into each other resulting in the race being stopped. Meanwhile, Casey Stoner was 0.024sec slower than Lorenzo which meant he would start the race in second. Dani Pedrosa was third and the only rider to manage a sub 1’22″ lap times.

Rossi in pursuit of Lorenzo'z time with Dovizioso in front
Dovisioso lined up in 4th on the second row of the grid followed by Valentino Rossi who returned to MotoGP after hurting his leg in the crash at Mugello. It was a great qualifying session for Rossi who was making his come-back and was seen in the paddock with a pair of crutches. Alex de Angelis and Loris Capirossi also had their share of off-road moments.
