An impressive performance by Dani Pedrosa put him in the top spot at the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. Victory in Germany resulted in the Spaniard securing second position in the 2010 MotoGP Championship. Lorenzo and Casey Stoner followed Pedrossa to second and third spots on the podium.

After a crash involving Randi de Puniet, Álvaro Bautista and Aleix Espargaró the race was stopped. As their bikes could not be recovered within five minutes according to the rules for restart, all the three riders did not take part in the shortened race that followed. Randi de Puniet was lucky enough not to get hurt during his qualifying crash. During the race however, fractured his left tibia and fibula.

The race was restarted after a 25 minute break. The race ended early for Mika Kallio though, as he slid out at the very first corner. Pedrosa was quick off the line but Lorenzo lead the race intially. In an incident packed race at Sachsenring, Pedrosa managed to get in front of Lorenzo and stayed there till the end. Lorenzo fnished second followed by Stoner. Rossi, despite his precarious physical condition manage to hold back Dovizioso in 4th place.

Lorenzo now leads the Championship with 185 points. Pedrosa is second on 138 points and Dovizioso in third with 103 points. Next-up Grand Prix of USA.
