2011 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix Second Free Practice: Jenson Button of Mclaren tops time sheets!

Briton Jenson Button of Mclaren topped the second practice session before tomorrow’s qualifying session of the 2011 Formula1 Season opening Australian Grand Prix to be held at Melbourne’s Albert Park F1 Circuit. Both Jenson Button and Team Mate Lewis Hamilton who went second fastest, were the only cars on the grid to break into the 1M25S time.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso went third fastest and was followed by the two Redbull-Renaults of Sebastian Vettel and homeboy Mark Webber. Michael Schumacher looked good in sixth place while Massa finished seventh fastest of the session. A surprise entry however was Mexican rookie Sergio Perez who manage to go eighth fastest in his Sauber-Ferrari.

Force India meanwhile had a so-so session with Paul Di Resta going 16th fastest and outpacing Adrian Sutil who followed just behind for a 17th fastest time. The Indian drivers’ bad day continued as Karun Chandhok, having crashed his car did not take to the field while HRT were still struggling to put Narain Karthikeyan on track with only Liuzzi able to drive the other HRT car for a solitary lap in which his time was not recorded.
