2011 MotoGP Jerez grand prix: Stoner on pole; Pedrosa on front row followed by Lorenzo

Casey Stoner pulled off yet another pole for the Repsol Honda Team. At the Spanish grand prix of Jerez, Stoner took his second consecutive pole of the 2011 Motogp season. Dani Pedrosa will start alongside his teammate in todays race. It will be the seventh time the Spaniard has started from the first row at Jerez. This is the second time, Repsol Honda has earned the top two spots during qualifying after Qatar.

Jorge Lorenzo still couldn’t find the pace on his Yamaha and will start from third on the second ow of the grid. Ben Spies will start behind Lorenzo followed by 2008, 250cc World Champion, Marco Simoncelli. Andrea Dovizioso on the third Honda will be on the third row. Randy de Puniet (Pramac Racing) crashed at turn 5 in the final ten minutes of qualifying but finished as the top Ducati rider in seventh position.

Valentino Rossi struggled at the start and by the end of the hour was way down in eight spot when he ventured in to the gravel trap. Rossi had to jump on a spare bike which saw him losing more time and eventually had to settle for 12th behind team mate Nicky Hayden.
