2012 could potentially be Michael Schumacher’s last hurray in Formula1!

Even as the knives are out with critics questioning Michael Schumacher’s decision to stage a comeback into Formula1, 2012 could be the last year for Michael Schumacher in Formula1. While Schumacher is trying hard to put Mercedes F1 Team on the podium, the first few races of the year have been anything but encouraging with Nico Rosberg out-qualifying and out-racing Schumacher.

Even so, Micheal Schumacher plans not to extend his contract in F1 after 2012, until which his 3 year contract with the Mercedes F1 Team lasts. If the F1 racing legend indeed plans to bow out quietly without finishing on the top, the comeback certainly wouldn’t have worked as well as Michael Schumacher, Ross Brawn and Mercedes GP F1 Team would have hoped it to be.

Even as ardent Michael Schumacher fans hope that the legend goes out with a blaze of glory, Michael Schumacher plans to be a brand ambassador for Mercedes after his 3 year contract term expires. Wouldn’t Ferrari be more apt, Michael? Any which ways, here’s what Michael Schumacher has had to say about his future plans.

That’s why I’m fighting with Mercedes(To put Mercedes on the Podium). 42 (years old) is not the same as 25. I will fulfil my three year contract with Mercedes and afterwards work as a representative of the brand.

He hasn’t been outraced in all the early races, in Malaysia Michael had a great start and got past Nico and finished well ahead of him. His poor qualifying performances have been due to DRS issues, the key to writing a good article is to get some facts first.

    Dear Mr Brawn,

By outraced, we meant that Nico has consistently shown a better pace than Schumi and this could be because of DRS, etc but that is something that finally has an effect on the timing sheets irrespective of how fast the driver really is. Quite frankly, sorting that out is your problem and expecting us to gloat over a Mercedes team that hasn’t been able to give a 7 time world champion an effective DRS system is absurd.

While you’re harping about Schumi finishing ahead of Nico in Malaysia, what about China where Nico finished ahead or even Australia, where Nico retired when he was in 7th place on the 22nd lap while Schumi retired out 4 laps sooner on 11th place? If this doesn’t indicate Nico being faster than Schumi at least for the initial part of the season, pray what might?

    Cheers,

    Jay
