Aragon MotoGP 2010: Casey Stoner seals victory & Hayden comes Third

Casey Stoner took his first victory of the 2010 season at Aragón on Sunday. Stoner converted his pole position into a well deserved victory for the factory Ducati team. Nicky Hayden battled throughout the race with Lorenzo and managed to secure third place on the very final lap of the race. Pedrosa had qualified second and was able to get in front of Lorenzo but not before dropping back to fifth in the opening stages of the race.

Dovizioso had made life difficult for Ben Spies on the Yamaha initially. He crashed out of the race on the last lap battling for fifth. Valentino Rossi came in sixth after a weekend that had proved pretty tough. Marco Simoncelli and Álvaro Bautista completed the top eight. Marco Melandri and Aleix Espargaró were ninth and tenth respectively. Randy de Puniet crashed out on lap 16 of the race.
Lorenzo still leads the championship with 284 points with Pedrosa in second with 222 points. Stoner’s victory means he moves into third with 155 points. Rossi is fourth and Dovzioso drops to fifth.
