Bahrain F1: Alonso wins, Force India scores, Karun disappoints
The title sums up what the Bahrain GP means to F1 fans back in India. We did skip a mention of the back-in-action hero Michael Schumacher in the heading due to space constraints. We also missed to say that Ferrari dominated the season opener. Let’s take it one step at a time.
Fernando Alonso marked his return to form with a sparkling victory in the season opening Bahrain Grand Prix. Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton shared the podium with Alonso and Schumacher finished at a respectable 6th after starting from the 7th position. Last year’s champion driver Jenson Button could only manage the seventh spot at the finish line.
Force India had set its hopes on Adrian Sutil who had qualified for the 10th spot on the starting grid. But the racer finished at the 12th position and outside the points range. Relief came in the form of Liuzzi who made it to the 9th position and scoring two valuable points.
Karun Chandok’s anticipated F1 debut with Team Hispania was a disaster. He started at the 24th position and had no big plans other than completing the race. But Karun had to bail out of the race after five laps, the reason being a bump in the circuit.
India is off to a bumpy start in this season of the Formula 1 action. But that shouldn’t be a reason to be disheartened as a look at the results does show that this season will be full of surprises.

Karun will definitely rise as a warrior as this was his debut and margin of error must be given to him.
