The 2011 Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sakhir F1 Circuit was supposed to be the season opener of the 2011 Formula1 World Championship. That was not to be so due to violent protests amongst pro-democracy protestors in the Middle East oil rich nation. However, since March 2011, things slowly seemed to have crept back to normalcy in Bahrain or so the ruling Bahraini Sheikh claims, thus raising the possibility of the Bahrain Grand Prix to be held in October or at the end of the 2011 F1 Season. This bit of buzz comes even as reports of protests in Bahrain still trickle out in sporadic bursts.

This is quite plausible as F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone while calling off the 2011 Bahrain F1 Grand Prix mentioned that an October slot could be open for rescheduling the race. Also, the FIA, which is the regulatory body of F1 and world motorsport has given the Bahraini F1 race organizers time until the May 1st to arrive at a rescheduled date conducive for holding the F1 grand prix at Sakhir. Meanwhile, here’s what the Middle Eastern Kingdom’s F1 track chief, Sheikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa has had to say about the possibility of the 2011 Bahrain Grand Prix being held later this year.

Now that security has prevailed and normal life has returned to Bahrain, thanks to the wise leadership, we are stepping up contacts to host the race anew
