Dani Pedrosa wins the Sachsenring grand prix ahead of Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner in third. Lorenzo was lucky to get the drive out of the last corner to take second spot. As always, Pedrosa stormed in to the lead at the start. Lorenzo took over the lead from the Repsol Hondas eventually with Stoner charging behind. Pedrosa kept patiently waiting in third behind his team mate.

Meanwhile, Andrea Dovzioso lost out in the closing stages of the race and had to settle with seventh spot. He was going strong in fourth at one time. The third Repsol Honda of Andrea Dovizioso finished in fourth spot ahead of Ben Spies in fifth. The battle for fourth was also joined by Alvaro Bautista who finished in seventh behind Marco Simoncelli who lost out during the final laps of the race. Valentino Rossi had qualified way back in 16th spot and from there the Doctor clawed his way back up to ninth.

Nicky Hayden on the other Ducati finished ahead of Rossi in eighth spot while Colin Edwards on the Tech 3 Yamaha complete the top 10. The fastest lap of the race went to Dani Pedrosa who also beat the lap record with his 1 min 21.846 sec lap. Casey Stoner still leads the championship with 168 points with Lorenzo on 153 points. Pedrosa now trails behind Rossi by just 4 points.

In Moto2, Marc Marquez took the checkered flag ahead of Stefan Bradl and Alex de Angelis. Meanwhile earlier in the 125 cc Hector Faubel won the race while Nico Terol finished in fourth. Both Mahindra Racing riders sported black armbands in a show of solidarity with the victims of the recent Mumbai blasts. Danny Webb scored 2 championship points for the team by finishing in 14th place ahead of his team mate who finished in 16th.
