Motor racing is expensive business and more so the pinnacle of motor racing, Formula1.  Running a Formula1 team requires a mind boggling amount of money, and this is precisely why Formula1 teams folding up every other season is commonplace on the Formula1 grid. Dr Vijay Mallya, the liquor and aviation tycoon, who owns the Force India has successfully managed to run the team for the past three seasons with reasonable results to boot. However, some talk of Dr Mallya selling the Force India team to the Sahara group has emerged recently.

A  former motor racer himself, Dr Mallya has been passionately involved in the running the Force India team, being at the Force India paddock at almost every race weekend, from the sprawling seaside of Monaco to the desert heat of Abu Dhabi. His passion has also been reflected in his Twitter account where the tycoon regularly tweets about Force India’s performances at the various races in the Formula1 season. Dr Vijay Mallya for his part has vociferously denied all claims of him parting with the ownership of the Force India team and here’s what he has had to say about all the speculation of him hiving off the Force India F1 team.

No question of my getting out of Force India. I have even more reason to improve team performance when India comes on the Formula One map. I take great pride in having been able to put an Indian team on the Formula One World Championship grid and have worked very hard to greatly improve the performance of the team. As Team Principal, I will continue to run the team and I have no plans whatsoever to exit.
