Ferrari unveils its F2012 Formula1 race car!

Here is the first image of Italian supercar maker Ferrari’s 2012 Formula1 race car. The image was released online by Ferrari updating its website with the image of its 2012 race car even as incessant snow fall around Maranello forced Ferrari to cancel the official launch program of the F1 car. Ferrari will call its 2012 challenger the F2012, and we expect an official announcement to be coming along anytime now. Ferrari is one of the most illustrious and successful Formula1 race teams and with the latest 2012 car, the Italian team would be hoping to get back some of that glory.

The Ferrari F2012 race car will see a stepped nose design, to meet the new FIA height regulations while the aerodynamics have been thoroughly reworked with new sidepods and radiators being repositioned. The F2012 retains the V8 engine design used in 2011 as the FIA’s rules mandate no increase in performance from the engine, but comes with new engine management system to improve scavenging of exhaust gases off the throttle, that the new rules have mandated. Braking also has been improved with new air intakes for both front and the rear brakes of the race car.

Over the past couple of years, Ferrari has not been able to win neither the world championship nor the constructors championship, as Redbull-Renault has simply out qualified and out raced the outfit from Maranello. Ferrari though, has been a strong performer in last few seasons although the top spot has eluded them due to the brilliance displayed by Redbull-Renault Racing. The driver line up the 2012 season for Ferrari will be Spaniard Fernando Alonso and Brazilian Felipe Massa, in an unchanged team, that Ferrari has been functioning with for the past couple of seasons.
