Paddock habitus of the force.

Well, well… now that Force India has started raking up the points and hence spending more greens on car development and upgrades, it seems that our patron saint of liquor in India, Dr. Vijay Mallya is bored of his usual hospitality areas at the race weekends. So, whether it’s out of need or just a plain old showmanship gesture by the Force India Formula 1 team (to show the European giants that we have some flair too!), they’ve decided to get new motorhomes for the closely knit European segment of the F1 calendar.

Up for a drink anyone?

Motorhomes are the places where the team is effectively based for the race weekend in the paddocks. Every team shows its flamboyancy and wizardry as well as hospitality for their visiting partners and the people who matter, including the engineers and drivers of course, it’s all part of the glitzy glam dangerous world of racing! So, come the Turkish GP and the tricolor attired working class heroes will have a new three storeyed build it yourself palace on wheels.

350 square metres of steel and glass weighing over 40 tonnes will be put together by 10 people over 3 days and will have 3 storeys. It takes less time to put tighter the F1 car for crying out loud! Anyhow, here’s a sneak peek into what people can expect to see.

A place to Unwind during the race weekend

The ground floor will be accessed via a touch-activated sliding door and will feature a new welcome desk which will recognize the individual’s favorite drink as well as their name. The lower floor space will also include a ‘fully integrated bar’ including flat screen televisions and a chill-out area. (Hmm… are we going back to the gentlemen’s era of driving… with scotch?) Level two will be used only by team members and drivers and will include a boardroom, marketing office and two driver and treatment rooms.

With a separate staircase from the ground floor kitchen with orders for meals to be served fresh. And finally the third and top floor will be the realm of the big boss. The meeting area is also located here, although an extra 33 square metres allows room for a roof terrace in addition to the usual office, reception area and guest zone with sound-proof windows. Phew… so u thought those tall buildings in the gulf were the lap of luxury? All this and a formula 1 track next door with access to the pit lane… now that’s living it up!

Let’s just hope after all this we continue to bring in the points and push for 5th in constructor’s championship… May the force be with you!
