Monisha Kaltenborn
Born in Dehradun almost 40 summers ago and now running the show sitting in one of the hottest seats in F1, as chief executive of the Sauber F1 Team is Monisha Kaltenborn. The story of this Indian woman with Austrian citizenship who now lives in Switzerland, with her German husband is no less than remarkable. Monisha is a trained lawyer by profession, working for the Fritz Kaiser group, who in 1998 became the shareholders in the then Red Bull Sauber team.

Monisha, who until last season oversaw the Sauber F1 Team’s legal affairs suddenly found herself being appointed CEO of the Sauber F1 Team, in a sport long dominated by men and where emotions and competitive tempers usually run sky high. Not dissuaded by the challenges, Monisha has successfully managed the role with aplomb and has even filled in for the legendary Peter Sauber on the high pressure-high stakes pit wall last season.

Apart from her regular job a the CEO of the Sauber F1 team, Monisha also is a sitting member of the FIA Women and Motorsport Commission, which promotes women in motorsport. ICB wishes Monisha all the very best and sees her as an example of what education and women empowerment can do, even in a sport that is as testosterone driven as Formula1. Way to go Manisha and here’s hoping that more women compete in as well administer motorsports.
