Jenson Button to race for Mclaren only, confirms F1 team

Jenson Button has signed an extension to his contract with British Formula 1 team, McLaren ending all speculations once and for all. Button had been waiting for the team management to take the decision for the past two months. Now, finally it is clear that Jenson Button will be racing for team McLaren. Jenson has signed a multi-million dollar, multi-year deal with the team alongside Lewis Hamilton who is also expected to stay with the same team.

That said, Mark Webber and Felipe Massa could be looking for a new ride next season. Webber has been performing well but the Australian success has been overshadowed by Vettel who won his second consecutive world title this year. Felipe Massa on the other hand has failed to impress the Ferrari bosses and could move on to some other team next season. Hamilton might seem to be the dominant driver at McLaren but Button has consistently finished ahead of his team mate, this season.

Jenson is currently second in the championship with 185 points with Lewis in fifth place. That said, with Jenson and Lewis on board, the duo form a unique combination with Lewis being the aggressive driver of the two and Button being the more controlled behind the wheel. Jenson’s smooth driving skills have paid its dividends time and again especially when under wet conditions.

Button moved to McLaren after winning his first world title with Brawn GP. It is believed that McLaren has signed Button for a sum of GBP 10 million for the next two years, at least. Here is what Jenson had to say,

“I’ve never felt more at home at a team than I do McLaren,” said Button. “I’ve won four of the greatest races of my life here, I’m currently lying second in the drivers’ championship, and I feel I’m driving better than ever.

“You can only achieve that with the right level of support, and I truly believe the passion and determination to win are stronger here than anywhere else.”

Glad to know he’s staying with McLaren. I personally was confident that he would though. Finishing second in the driving championship just secured his place. Of course the McLaren team won’t let go of this guy after snagging that place. I’m just glad it’s finally confirmed.
