Salvation Time: Michael Schumacher’s Mercedes gets a different chassis in his F1 Car for Barcelona
Michael Schumacher
Much has been said and written about 7 time World Champion, Michael Schumacher‘s not-so-impressive return to the man eat man F1 racing circuit. Calling a spade, a spade, Nico Rosberg has simply outperformed the old warhorse Michael Schumacher in almost all of this season’s races so far.
In an attempt to give Michael Schumacher a chance to redeem himself and his immense potential, Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn has embellished Schumacher’s Mercedes with a raft of aerodynamic changes, that hopefully will help put the Champion back to where he really belongs, the top of the F1 podium.
The German ace’s Mercedes will feature a different chassis, one whose wheelbase is significantly longer than that of the outgoing version. This move is expected to generate much more frontal downforce and thus grip. Notably, Michael Schumacher prefers a set up which offers plenty of front end grip and this is exactly what Team Mercedes have tried providing him with.
Meanwhile, after Schumacher finished 10th in Shanghai, Mercedes claimed that the car set up was not up to scratch and that it was too early to write off Schumacher. When Michael Schumacher takes to the wheel in the coming week’s Barcelona’s Grand Prix, many critical eyes are expected to drill through him to see whether the German pace ace gets his Mercedes up to speed.
The fire, definitely isn’t out yet. Go Michael!
