Raceday on Sunday: Mclaren swansong at the 2010 Chinese F1 Grand Prix
Jenson Button exults after winning the 2010 F1 Chinese Grand Prix
Mclaren is back with a bang with a one-two finish in the Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai. In a race that saw plenty of on-the-edge action that included some rain, a jump start from Fernando Alonso and a first corner incident involving Force India’s Vitantonio Luizzi, a BMW Sauber and a Toro Rosso, the Mclaren duo of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton brought home their cars in first and second place respectively. The race saw plenty drama as a lot of drivers shifted to wet weather tyres with the first drops of rain hitting the tarmac.
The rain departed away as soon as it arrived and this led to another session of pit lane chaos as the drivers anxiously drove back for another change of tyres, this time to slicks. It was at this juncture when Hamilton cut Sebastian Vettel off at the pit lane leading to the FIA stewards classifying the pit lane moment as an incident and then went on to question and reprimand both the drivers.
Nico Rosberg of Mercedes led for a short while before erring on a corner in the rain and thus allowing Jenson Button to take the race lead. Force India’s Adrian Sutil managed to finish in 11th place, just out of the points while Vitantonio Luizzi retired in the first lap crash.
