Yamamoto replaces Chandhok again for the Hungary GP this weekend
HRT has decided to give Karun’s seat yet again to the Japanese driver Sakon Yamamoto. Yamamoto has been given Karun’s race seat for the second time reportedly due to a $5 million sponsorship. Selection of the Japanese driver even after a relatively poor performance during the qualifying session of the German GP raises a few question on the team’s selection.
Hispania are known to be struggling financially but it is believed they want to evaluate all their drivers before establishing a line-up for 2011. It is likely that Klien will be given a run in at least one race as well.
“I can’t wait to go back to the Hungaroring as I know the circuit already very well from my Formula 1 races with Super Aguri, Spyker F1 and with ART in GP2 series. The races there are always very tough because there is no big gap between the corners. You need a good braking stability and good traction on the car. I keep on pushing for another challenge and I hope that we are luckier than in Hockenheim,” an excited Yamamoto said in a press release.
After losing his race seat for the German Grand Prix Chandhok, 26, told the BBC he expected to be back for races later in the season.
“They are going to do what they need to do from their point of view,” said Chandhok of the team’s position. “What can you do? I just have to keep my chin up. The long summer break is coming up and we’ll have to see what happens for the rest of the season.”
