Skoda Laura 1.8 TSI Car User Review

After the tremendous success of the Laura Diesel, Skoda Auto has finally launched the Petrol Version of the Laura.
If I can describe this car in one word, I would say its “mind blowing”.

Skoda Laura Petrol User Review has been submitted by Bharat Iyer who is one of our loyal readers. We thank Bharat for submitting his “Ownership Experience” of the Skoda Laura Car.
Skoda has gone ahead and plonked a 1.8l TSI engine. It has got a super charger and turbo charger pumping out a massive 163 bhp. The moment you get in the car you feel well appointed interiors with nice use of colors. The quality of interiors is great but it does lack some features present on its rivals.
It comes with key less entry and has all four door auto up down power windows which is very convenient while driving, rain sensing wipers and even got rear AC Vents. It comes with heated side view mirrors which does not make much sense here in India.
In terms of safety, the car has dual airbags and ABS with EBD and ASR which keeps the car well planted on the road. The body is really strongly built and you love hearing the thunk every time the door shuts and it gives a very long lasting feel.
Where the car lacks in some features like climate control and folding mirrors. it makes up in pure driving pleasure..once you get over the 1800rpm the turbo and super charger kicks in and the car surges ahead till the 8000rpm redline without any hassle. The car zips from 0-100 in a mere 8.3 seconds and is surprisingly very economical also when you don’t want to drive hard. It will return an average of 10 under normal driving in the city but if you push it, this figure will drop down to 8kmpl.
In terms of space and comfort the ride is comfortable and at the same time the car handles really well. So, its a good mix of both ride and handling. Rear legroom is good but not the best in its class and the high transmission tunnel doesn’t help the middle passengers. In terms of boot space the car has a huge boot which can swallow up almost everything and add to that the seats flip down 60:40 which makes it easy for putting stuff in the car.
One thing that I found as problematic in the car was that there was lack of visibility in the car and there are a lot of blind spots which can be slightly unnerving some times.
To sum it up I think it is the best driver’s car this side of the BMW 3 series and the power delivery is just phenomenal.

Let us know how the ownership is. What tickled my funny bone was ‘..a massive 163 bhp’ :). If this is massive, I suggest you try the rather impressive Octavia vRS pumping out err.. close to 225 bhp.
The boot is massive !!
its reli nice to own..n also the old vrs pumped out only 150bhp..d new one has a 2.0l engine..nt 1.8
