The first live photos of the BMW 6 Series GT on the road has surfaced online. This BMW 5 Series-based hatchback was unveiled last month and has been reported for its market launch scheduled in November 2017.
The BMW 6 Series will sell in 630i, 640i, 640i xDrive, 640d and 640d xDrive variants. The 630i GT will get a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 258 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The 640i and 640i xDrive sport with a 3.0-litre petrol engine good for 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The 630d and 630d xDrive will get their power from a 3.0-litre diesel engine good for 265 hp and 620 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is a standard across all variants.
The BMW 6 Series GT measures 5,091 mm long, 1,902 mm wide and 1,538 mm tall, and has a 3,070 mm-long wheelbase. Under the body sits the CLAR rear-wheel drive platform, this BMW 5 Series GT successor will be up to 150 kg lighter than the 5 Series GT. It has 610 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,800 litres via rear folding seats.
On the outside the BMW has given Adaptive LED headlights with LED DRLs, 21-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights and now the added active rear spoiler is the BMW 6 Series GT’s exterior highlights. Inside, it features four-zone automatic climate control and front seats with ventilation and massage function. Further added are the electrically adjustable comfort rear seats, LED mood lighting and iDrive infotainment system with a 10.25-inch display. The available Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System has a 10-channel amplifier with an output of 1,400 watts. With 16 partially illuminated speakers, it features dynamic sound equalising technology.
BMW 6 Series GT is expected to launch in India in 2018 Auto Expo in February. BMW will assemble 6 Series GT in the Chennai plant in India.
