The 2017 Hyundai Verna will be launched soon, with spy shots of the car in the factory showing more details about the India bound sedan.
Most of the details about the all-new 2017 generation Hyundai Verna is out as the sedan was already launched in China. The India bound car gets some regional changes with more chrome in the front grille and in other areas as well. The hexagonal grille that’s part of the Hyundai family look has five chromed slats now. Fog lamp housing also gets the chrome treatment.
The new Hyundai Verna is 30 mm longer than the outgoing sedan which leads to more space on the inside for the rear passengers, which will be welcomed. A touchscreen multimedia and navigation system will dominate the interior, which will also have six airbags and automatic climate control depending on variants.
Following the Fluidic 2.0 styling, the new Hyundai Verna sedan is a more muscled up and butch version of the first generation fluidic car. The first generation car was well received by the Indian consumers, with the design a refreshing change from the usual cars to come from Hyundai. Paired to a punchy diesel engine, progress was also swift. The soft suspension gave good ride quality, but it also led to poor high speed manners with the car getting unsettled by road undulations at speeds.
The all-new Verna promises to address these issues, especially in the handling department to make the car more fun to drive. Hyundai should also introduce many new features in this segment to make the Verna an enticing option in the executive sedan segment. The design of the sedan also has a premium big car feel to it which should appeal to many.
Where engine specifications are concerned, 2017 Hyundai Verna will continue using the same range of engine options on the outgoing car albeit with some tweaks. These are a pair of 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter petrol and diesel engines up for choice, with the 1.6 petrol and diesel engines getting auto boxes.
1.4 petrol engine – 107 PS / 135 Nm and mated to a 5 speed MT.
1.6 petrol engine – 123 PS / 155 Nm and mated to a 5 speed MT or 4 speed AT.
1.4 diesel engine – 90 PS / 220 Nm and mated to a 6 speed MT.
1.6 diesel engine – 128 PS / 260 Nm and mated to a 6 speed MT or 4 speed AT.
Too lazy to type anything, so re quoting from the best F1 driver in the world:
“On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.”
