Hero MotoCorp unveils the indigenously developed Leap Hybrid Concept Scooter!

After showcasing two badge engineered and one new product a couple of days ago, Hero MotoCorp has lined up a very interesting product at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, of that of the Leap Hybrid Concept Scooter. The Leap is perhaps the first hybrid scooter concept in India and this scooter is capable of running both on petrol and electric power, thus giving it its hybrid credentials.

The Leap Hybrid scooter while being a concept presents a new direction for Hero’s future products, which could use the hybrid technology developed in the Leap concept. Hero has applied for three international technology patents and 9 design registrations for the Leap hybrid concept. Watch this space as we bring you more images of the Leap Hybrid concept shortly.

Hero says that this concept is a culmination of the added impetus the firm is laying on research and development and that is certainly a welcome sign for a company which for long has depended and is still largely depending on Japanese auto giant Honda for technology.

The Leap concept in hybrid mode can deliver up to 100 Kmpl per liter of petrol as it combines electric and petrol power, making it one of the most fuel efficient scooters in India, albeit in concept form. Most of Hero MotoCorp’s bread and butter products deliver excellent mileage. So, the Leap hybrid concept will fit right into Hero’s portfolio.

For the average scooter buyer, it meansĀ  a much more affodable form of transport in these times of sky hig fuel prices. Bring it on, Hero!

    Great move by Hero.

If they can bring this under a very competitive pricing they sure can reclaim the position Hero Honda had been maintaining.

Currently the should try and get products that tick well with the people, getting Impulse was a nice move.

“100 Kmpl per liter” = error.

whats main thing is that hero pleasure 100cc already giving 55 to 60 kmpl if well maintained matter is that as said above 100 kmpl is mostly in test condition but in real life situation it gives merely 80 % of it as in case of tvs scooty pep company says 68 kmpl in std test condition but in real it gives max 55 to 60 kmpl
