Piaggio India is now offering an extended warranty to all existing owners of the Vespa LX125 automatic scooter. Given that the Vespa LX125 is less than two years old in the Indian scooter market, all existing owners are eligible to buy the extended warranty. Also, all new buyers of the Vespa LX125 can also choose to specify the scooter with an extended warranty right at the time of purchase. Piaggio India offers two packages of extended warranty, with one package covering the scooter for 1 year/12,000 kilometers while the other package comes with a 2 year/24,000 kilometers coverage.
2012 Piaggio Vespa LX125 Automatic Scooter
While the Vespa LX125 comes with a 2 years/24,000 kilometer warrant as standard, here are the two schemes for the extended warranty and the costs of both the schemes.
1 year/12,000 Km extended warranty: INR 400 for new owners and INR 480 for existing owners.
2 years/24,000 Km extended warranty: INR 550 for new owners and INR 625 for existing owners.
The Vespa LX125 is the most expensive automatic scooter sold in India given its “lifestyle” positioning. The scooter has been a slow seller due to its high price tag and the slow sales have resulted in Piaggio India reducing prices by INR 6,000. On whether this price cut has an effect is something that we’ll be able to find out in the next few months.
The scooter features a monocoque steel body and this means the Vespa LX125 is less susceptible to rattling due to parts loosening over a period of time. The scooter feels solidly put together and comes with a high quality fit and finish. The scooter is powered by a 125cc four stroke engine that is air cooled. This engine features a 3 valve head, which is a first for automatic scooters in India. The engine outputs a peak power of 10 Bhp while peak torque is rated at 10.6 Nm. These specifications make the Vespa LX125 one of the most powerful automatic scooters in India.
Piaggio India plans to expand to the mass market scooter segment by launching more competitively priced products in the coming years. 2013 is expected to see the Piaggio Fly 125 automatic scooter being launched in India. This scooter will take on the likes of the Suzuki Access 125 and the Mahindra Rodeo 125. Pricing too, is expected to match the rest of the 125cc automatic scooter line up in India. On the other hand, the Vespa LX125 will continue to be positioned as lifestyle scooter offering, and this segment will also be expanded with new launches.
