The Vespa LX125 automatic scooter that was unveiled at the Auto Expo will be launched in March-April 2012!

The level of detailing. That was what really blew us away when we laid our eyes on the Vespa LX125 automatic scooter range unveiled by Piaggio India at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo. The Vespa LX125 looks retro cool and will definitely find a lot of takers if Piaggio India can actually maintain the levels of finish that the show models featured. From the analogue clock on the instrumentation console to the rubber floor strips on the floorboard, the Vespa LX125 will invoke plenty of nostalgia amongst folks who have grown up amidst the Chetaks and Priyas of this world.

Other retro touches on the LX125 include the Vespa names etched on the front single unit link fork and the rear grab handle. The scooter also features a chromed horn grille up front, which is what the scooters of yore used to feature before he Activa generation came along. An all metal body on the Vespa LX125 made the scooter feel much more substantial to touch and feel. The Vespa LX125′s size will suit both men and women although the more feminine colors will be adored by women. The automatic scooter features a 125cc four stroke engine pumping out 10 Bhp of peak power and 9.7 Nm of peak torque mated to a CVT transmission.

The Vespa LX125 also has the potential to kick off a retro scooter revolution in India, even as automatic scooter sales are showing rapid year on year growth, with more and more scooter manufacturers joining the fray. It would be safe to assume that the Vespa LX125 will be positioned as a premium lifestyle scooter during the time of its launch in March or April 2012, at a price of roughly INR 55,000 during the times of its launch. While that is a lot of money for a scooter, the Vespa LX125 definitely has the looks and finish to carry it off. This is one product we’re eagerly waiting for in 2012.
